Embracing Midlife and Menopause
Welcome to our website: "Midlife and Moving Forward". This site is intended for women and couples; it has been developed by my husband and I, who together have gone through this journey. You will learn what our experience with menopause has been. Midlife and Moving Forward contains topics related to midlife, menopause, and the physical and emotional changes we go through. You will find such topics as symptoms (i.e. hot-flashes, vaginal dryness), nutrition, exercise, natural remedies, sex during menopause, having a support system and my personal experience. "Midlife and Moving Forward" has an upbeat approach to a topic that many women see as a negative phase in their life. During our experience we found many books about specific topics such as nutrition, health and hormonal aspects of menopause. I have also found books dealing with the psychological and spiritual issues that come with midlife and menopause. Years ago you would find books that gave you a negative perspective on midlife and menopause. There is also a cultural factor in the United States towards older people that does not help much with the attitude as we approach this phase in our lives. We believe this might be a reason why many women have such a negative attitude towards menopause, aside from the generational influence of our mothers and grandmothers. Taking all this into consideration we want to give couples a positive, upbeat and encouraging account that midlife and menopause is not "the end" but just the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. It's a chapter that offers new opportunities for growth, change, creativity, new careers, and new hobbies. In other words, it is in your attitude, outlook and most of all in your hands to enjoy and embrace menopause and midlife. Midlife and menopause is a new door, filled with endless opportunities for growth and change. We don't need to fear or despair during this time. Midlife and menopause can awaken dreams we had left behind and bring new awareness to do something great for ourselves. We recover old passions, develop new hobbies or interests, return to school or even start a new business. During midlife and menopause we want to do things we have always wanted to do but always feared. We will share our experience as a couple and what we have both learned and endured through this journey. Our relationship has become closer and stronger because of the understanding of one another during midlife and menopause. Moving forward and embracing midlife and menopause; is a fact of life! |
